Welcome to King's Hockey

Welcome to King’s College London Hockey Club, one of the biggest sports clubs at the heart of KCL.

It is here where many of our members band themselves together to represent the club, making new friends and discovering a fuller and more enriching university experience alongside their studies. Whether you have never picked up a stick before, or are already playing to a performance level, there has never been a better time to join KCLHC. We pride ourselves upon the quality of our players and coaching team, and the diversity upon which the club is founded, with many current players and former alumni playing elite hockey with some of the country’s and world’s top sides, alongside their respective national set ups.

Yet similarly, this is not to say that the social aspect of the club is anyhow compromised. With regular joint socials between the men’s and women’s club, Wednesday nights provide the staple highlight of the club’s week, with university defining events throughout the academic year to relish including highlights of the Christmas social, numerous hockey family nights and the annual End of Season dinner to ensure that all social appetites are catered for.

The main focus of the club is the participation within the Wednesday BUCs leagues, where we have 4 women’s teams and 2 men’s teams. For those looking to play to a performance standard, the men’s and women’s first teams play elite level hockey on a weekly basis, with the women marking their status as the highest ranked university women’s club in London, currently playing in the South Premier league.

The second teams are for those who enjoy competitive and energetic hockey without the performance team pressures. They have found much success during this last season, with both teams securing promotion within their leagues and with the women crowing their glory having completed both the cup and league double.

For those more interested in meeting new people and getting involved in some social hockey, the women’s third team is the place to be, with the team’s social nature naturally complementing their unbeaten debut season. As a club, we love welcoming new members and this is further epitomised by the newly formed fourth team, with much potential as they enter their BUCs league aiming to replicate the greatness demonstrated by their seniors.

We also have teams playing within the additional London based Sunday league, with the women’s first team and title holding mixed team as dominant forces to be reckoned with, alongside the opportunity for Saturday hockey with our alumni club for those interested. With a quality coaching setup provided for each team, there has never been a more exciting time to join the KCLHC drive for the upcoming season, striving for success once again, also marking the key fixtures of Varsity, Macadam and our highly anticipated tour into the hockey calendar.
